Three Trompe L'Oeil Daily Paintings Inspired by Vintage Copy of Robert Louis Stevenson's Child's Garden of Verses

"Time to Rise," acrylic on panel, 8" x 8".

SOLD

I recently came across a well-loved vintage copy of Robert Louis Stevenson's A Child's Garden of Verses and thought I'd turn a few of my favorite verses and illustrations into daily paintings. It's amazing that these were written well over a hundred years ago and are just as lovely today.

Behind the Scenes - Acrylic Painting of Life Board Game Wheel and Board

"Life's About the Journey," acrylic on panel, 11" x 14".

I again used our early 90s Life Board Game as the model for this piece. At 11" x 14", it's one of my larger pieces, which is always a challenge, but definitely pushes my painting skills.

Here are some behind-the-scenes photos of the painting process. Thanks for looking!

Up on Etsy - Daily Still Life Painting of Colored Pencils, Hearts and Bubble Letters

"Color," acrylic on panel, 6" x 6".

SOLD

For Christmas, my young nephew and nieces sent me and my husband an array of thoughtful gifts, including these colored pencils from my 10-year-old niece. So I thought I'd paint a little piece to help me remember what it was like to be a 10-year-old girl, drawing hearts and bubble letters.

Up on Etsy - Three Autumn Themed Trompe L'Oeil Daily Paintings

"Last Autumn Leaf," acrylic on panel, 6" x 6".

SOLD

I used one of the leaves from my own yard as the subject for the piece. And since I got a later start in the day on painting it, it was a challenge to finish it before it withered away on my easel! By the end of the day, the subject no longer existed, but the painting immortalized it!

"Apple Crisp," acrylic on panel, 5" x 7". - SOLD

"Pumpkin Pie," acrylic on panel, 5" x 7". - SOLD

These two are both paintings from my Well-Loved Recipe Cards series - Apple Crisp and Pumpkin Pie. The original recipe cards are written in my own handwriting, based on a traditional Apple Crisp and Pumpkin Pie.

Feel free to try them out! Thanks for looking!

Up on Etsy - Animal Crackers - Original Acrylic Painting - With Behind the Scenes Photos

"Animal Crackers," acrylic on panel, 8" x 10".

SOLD

I used a contemporary box of animal crackers as a model for the piece. There were so many super-intricate details, as the painting is just slightly larger than life size. In truth, the illustrations used on the box were really lovely, and something I'd never really noticed before.

I'm including some behind-the-scenes photos below. Thanks for looking!
