On the Easel - Vintage Coffee Grinder Daily Oil Painting

Oil on linen mounted on panel, 10" x 8" - Still drying

I really am a collector of vintage objects, I suppose. I believe I inherited this piece from my aunt. It is one of those objects where I truly admire the attention to the design that the maker put in. Note the details on the top of the grinder, which have a permanent yellowed tone settled in around the edges. That was one of the aspects that made this piece fun to paint. I also like lighting the pieces dramatically in order to get both the extreme highlights (as on the wooden handle tip and drawer knob), and the extreme darks on the left shaded sides. I don't actually know much about what era this piece is from, but now I want to look it up!
